Looking For Sports Massage in Dunmow or Royston?
A hands-on therapy that works with the body as a whole, massage uses targeted techniques to ease tension, relieve discomfort, improve circulation and support relaxation and recovery.
What Is Massage?
Massage therapy focuses on treating and preventing a wide range of soft tissue problems by working with the body as a whole to release tension, restore mobility, and improve overall function.
Massage therapists are soft tissue specialists. They assess areas of tightness, imbalance, or restriction and create individualised treatment plans designed to relieve discomfort, improve circulation, and support recovery.
Treatment is centred on hands-on techniques such as deep tissue release, trigger point work, and stretching. Massage therapy can help with recovery after injury, postural strain, or periods of high physical or emotional stress, and it can also support general wellbeing and help prevent future issues. By reducing tension and improving soft tissue health, massage therapy helps you return to daily activities with greater ease and less discomfort.
A key part of massage therapy is prevention. As well as easing current problems, therapists provide guidance on posture, movement habits, and self-care strategies that reduce strain and maintain long-term health.

Massage is for anyone. You don't need a specific medical reason. Many patients book regular sessions as preventive maintenance. Others come for one-off treatment of a specific tension area, sports recovery or general relaxation. Whatever your reason, we'll tailor the session to suit.
We offer 30-minute and 60-minute massage appointments. A 30-minute session focuses on a specific area (for example shoulders and neck, lower back or legs). A 60-minute session is for full-body treatment or in-depth work across multiple areas. We'll help you choose the right option when you book.
This varies a lot. One-off massages are common (before an event, after a tough training week, or when stress builds up). Many patients book regular sessions every 2 to 4 weeks as ongoing maintenance. If you're using massage as part of treatment for a specific issue, we'll discuss the right frequency at your first appointment.
No. You can book a massage appointment directly with us with no GP referral needed.
Most patients undress to their underwear. We provide modesty towels and your practitioner will leave the room while you get on the table. Wear whatever feels comfortable to arrive in. If you've had any recent injuries you want us to know about, mention them when you book.
Massage should feel firm but never sharply painful. Deep tissue work can feel intense in the moment, especially in tight areas. Your practitioner will check in regularly and adjust pressure to your comfort. After deep work some people feel mild soreness for 24 hours as the muscles release.
Massage is available at both our Great Dunmow clinic and our Royston clinic. Both have flexible appointment slots and on-site parking. Get in touch and we'll find a time that works for you.
Elaine TerryTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I was lucky enough to see Charlotte about my old lady knees that have been dreadful lately and was fully expecting her to inform me that they need replacing. Instead she calmly and informatively explained what is going on and that by doing the exercises she fully demonstrated and got me to try and with regular ultrasound scans, I should regain full mobility with minimum pain. I will admit I was not particularly looking forward to the session, but after spending the time with Charlotte and having my questions answered thoroughly and being calmly advised, I am really hopeful that together we can help ensure I walk tall and hobble no more! My practitioner Charlotte, has continued the good work of this practice. Her observations of my stance and her listening capacity seem as important as the therapy she applies. In all these applied skills, find me at last in a good place. I have recommended her to my wife Diane and to a dear friend Shirley after a nasty fall in Spain. All will recommend Charlotte as their preferred Osteopath.. Grateful thanks. A. L. Baker. EA BTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.
